1. Our Editorial Independence
Bharat Vartha is an independent platform. Our editorial decisions are made solely by the Bharat Vartha Research Desk and are not subject to influence from any government, political party, corporate sponsor, or external funder.
We do not accept payment for coverage. We do not publish sponsored content presented as editorial reporting. Our independence is the foundation of our credibility.
2. Sourcing Standards
All claims published on Bharat Vartha must meet our sourcing standards:
- Primary sources preferred: Government data, official statements, court records, parliamentary proceedings, and original documents are our preferred sources.
- Secondary sources verified: When citing news reports or third-party analysis, we verify the claim against the original source where possible.
- No anonymous speculation: We do not publish unverified rumours or anonymous claims without corroboration from at least one independently verifiable source.
- Intelligence claims: Claims attributed to intelligence agencies are clearly identified as such and assessed with appropriate caution.
What We Will Not Publish
Bharat Vartha will not publish content that targets private individuals, incites violence or communal hatred, reproduces classified information obtained illegally, or makes defamatory claims without factual basis. We analyse systems, policies, and networks — not private persons.
3. Accuracy and Corrections
We take accuracy seriously. When errors are identified — by our team or by readers — we act promptly.
Corrections Policy
- Minor factual errors (dates, names, statistics) are corrected immediately with a note at the bottom of the article indicating what was changed and when.
- Substantive errors that affect the meaning or conclusions of a piece are corrected with a prominent correction notice at the top of the article.
- We do not silently delete incorrect content. All corrections are transparently noted.
To report an error, write to: editor@bharatvartha.com with the subject line "Correction Request."
4. Fairness and Balance
Bharat Vartha covers national security topics that are sometimes politically sensitive. We are committed to the following principles of fairness:
- Non-partisan coverage: We do not editorially favour any political party. Our analysis is driven by national security considerations, not electoral outcomes.
- Multiple perspectives: On contested issues, we present the range of credible positions held by analysts, policymakers, and researchers.
- Right of response: Where we make substantive claims about organisations or institutions, we endeavour to seek their response before publication.
- Distinguishing analysis from fact: Opinion and analysis pieces are clearly labelled as such and distinguished from factual reporting.
5. Use of Artificial Intelligence
Bharat Vartha may use AI-assisted tools in the research and drafting process. However, all published content is reviewed, verified, and edited by human members of the Research Desk before publication.
AI-generated content is never published without human review and factual verification. We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, sources, or events.
6. Privacy and Sensitive Information
We do not publish personally identifying information about private individuals. In cases where information about private persons is relevant to a matter of genuine public interest, we apply the following tests:
- Is there a clear and demonstrable public interest in publication?
- Is the information already in the public domain from credible sources?
- Does publication risk harm to an uninvolved third party?
When in doubt, we err on the side of privacy protection.
